Codex

OpenAI's coding agent, in the terminal and your IDE. It uses Laterbase as a remote MCP server, signed in with your account.

ToolsServer instructionsSigns in, no key

Connect

  1. Run this in your terminal. Codex opens your browser to sign in to Laterbase: sign in and allow Codex. The Codex CLI and IDE extension share the server.
Shell
codex mcp add laterbase --url https://laterbase.dev/mcp

If you close the browser before signing in, run codex mcp login laterbase to try again.

Check it works

codex mcp list shows laterbase, and /mcp in a session lists its tools. The sign-in is listed under Connected apps on Connections.

Disconnect

Shell
codex mcp remove laterbase

That removes the server. To revoke its access from this side, press Disconnect next to it under Connected apps on Connections.

With an API key

If you'd rather not sign in, add the server with an API key.

  1. Sign in, open Connections on the dashboard and create an API key. It's shown once, so copy it into the snippet straight away. One key per machine keeps things tidy.
  2. Add the server to ~/.codex/config.toml. The Codex CLI and IDE extension both read it.
TOML
# ~/.codex/config.toml
[mcp_servers.laterbase]
url = "https://laterbase.dev/mcp"
http_headers = { "Authorization" = "Bearer lb_live_your_key" }

In more than one workspace? Add one server per workspace, each with its own key and a name like laterbase-acme, so agents can work in both at once. See Workspaces and connections.

codex mcp list shows laterbase, and /mcp in a session lists its tools.

Shell
codex mcp remove laterbase

That removes the server. To cut it off for good, revoke the key on Connections. Agents using it stop working on their next call.
