Gemini CLI

Google's open-source agent for the terminal. It uses Laterbase as a remote MCP server, signed in with your account, and the skills show up as slash commands like /quick.

Connect

  1. Run this in your terminal. --scope user makes it available in every project.
Shell
gemini mcp add --scope user --transport http laterbase https://laterbase.dev/mcp

Then, in Gemini CLI, run /mcp auth laterbase. Sign in to Laterbase in the browser tab that opens and allow Gemini CLI.

Check it works

In a session, /mcp lists laterbase as connected, with its tools and prompts. The sign-in is listed under Connected apps on Connections.

Disconnect

Shell
gemini mcp remove --scope user laterbase

That removes the server. To revoke its access from this side, press Disconnect next to it under Connected apps on Connections.

With an API key

If you'd rather not sign in, add the server with an API key.

  1. Sign in, open Connections on the dashboard and create an API key. It's shown once, so copy it into the snippet straight away. One key per machine keeps things tidy.
  2. Run this in your terminal, with your key in place of the placeholder.
Shell
gemini mcp add --scope user --transport http \
  --header "Authorization: Bearer lb_live_your_key" \
  laterbase https://laterbase.dev/mcp

In more than one workspace? Add one server per workspace, each with its own key and a name like laterbase-acme, so agents can work in both at once. See Workspaces and connections.

In a session, /mcp lists laterbase as connected, with its tools and prompts.

Shell
gemini mcp remove --scope user laterbase

That removes the server. To cut it off for good, revoke the key on Connections. Agents using it stop working on their next call.
