Zed

Zed is a fast, open-source code editor with an agent panel. It uses Laterbase as a remote MCP server, and the skills show up as slash commands like /quick.

ToolsSkills as slash commands

Connect

  1. Sign in, open Connections on the dashboard and create an API key. It's shown once, so copy it into the snippet straight away. One key per machine keeps things tidy.
  2. Run zed: open settings file and add the server to context_servers. Or add it in Settings, then AI, MCP Servers, Add Remote Server.
JSON
// settings.json
{
  "context_servers": {
    "laterbase": {
      "url": "https://laterbase.dev/mcp",
      "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer lb_live_your_key" }
    }
  }
}

In more than one workspace? Add one server per workspace, each with its own key and a name like laterbase-acme, so agents can work in both at once. See Workspaces and connections.

Check it works

In Settings, then AI, MCP Servers, laterbase has a green dot: the server is active.

Disconnect

Uninstall it from the MCP Servers settings, or delete its entry from settings.json. To cut it off for good, revoke the key on Connections. Agents using it stop working on their next call.
